Sydney Drop Bears Claim Third Straight Contenders Title

The Sydney Drop Bears have once again climbed the highest peaks of Contenders Australia, to claim their third consecutive Overwatch Contenders title this weekend. Their opponents, Order, were able to hand the Drop Bears their first loss of the season, but were ultimately unable to force the issue, as the Drop Bears claimed the series 4-1.

Order looked strong this season, with many believing that they might be the team to dethrone the Drop Bears in the end. This was compounded by the belief that the Drop Bears had let go some of their strongest players in the off-season, who would ultimately go on to join Order.

The final 4-1 result of the championship match fails to do justice to the hard work that Order put in over the course of the season. Their set against Athletico in the semifinals was an easy 3-0, and they seemed to be the first team in the league to put a dent in the armor of the Drop Bears, thanks to huge plays from Jordy “Jordation” Frish and Sam “Quatz” Dennis that had many believe a reverse sweep was not just possible, but perhaps even likely.

In the end however, the Sydney Drop Bears were able to hold onto their legacy as the top team in Contenders AU. All eyes will be on the team come season four, as the rest of the league looks to break the cycle of victory at least once.
