Chongqing Major Playoffs Deliver Excellent Matches
By Zac Cameron ·
Just one day into the playoffs of the Chongqing Major and we're already seeing some very exciting matches, and some unexpected results.
The Chongqing Major was always going to prove an exciting event, in part due to the caliber of the teams attending and also because it’s the first Major Dota 2 tournament of the year. While the group stage went about as expected as can be, the playoffs are already delivering some very exciting matches as teams look to avoid being sent to the Lower Bracket. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games so far.
The first set saw PSG.LGD taking on Vici Gaming, in a series that saw PSG.LGD showcase their incredible skill at the game. The best-of-three series was over after less than an hour of game time, with PSG.LGD advancing 2-0 and sending Vici Gaming to the Lower Bracket.
The next clash saw Virtus.pro take down Evil Geniuses in similar fashion, though their matches were not as easy as the first series. Another 2-0 set was all it took to send Evil Geniuses to the Lower Bracket, as Virtus.pro advanced and are now prepared to take on PSG.LGD for a spot in the Upper Bracket finals.

Next up we have Fnatic taking on EHOME, and we’re finally seeing three games in a best-of-three series. EHOME picked up the first game after around 40 minutes of playtime, before Fnatic managed to steal game two in just 18 minutes to even things out. The third match would go back to EHOME after another long match, securing their spot and sending Fnatic to the Lower Bracket.
Finally, we have the clash between Team Liquid and Team Secret. Despite the best efforts of Liquid to claim victory, Team Secret proved too strong here once again, cruising to victory 2-0 to advance to the next round where they’ll face off against EHOME for a spot in the Upper Bracket finals.
Today we’re seeing the beginning of the Lower Bracket games, where each team rests on a knife’s edge. One more lost series here and their dreams are over for this tournament, making each game truly intense. You can catch all the action through the embed stream below.
