It's only the second week of the LEC Spring Season, and we're already seeing some strong teams falter.

LEC Wraps Up Week Two With Surprising Results

The LEC’s opening week proved to be an eye opener for some fans, as previously strong teams found themselves struggling, while other teams proved they had more than enough time in the off-season to mesh together. Now at the conclusion of week 2, we’re already seeing some outcomes we didn’t expect, as a few of the teams have begun to rally and fight back from their disappointing performance last week. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games from earlier today.

Schalke 04 – Fnatic

Fnatic have not had a very good start to the LEC, failing to win a single game so far as they struggle to work together as a cohesive unit. It may look like a far cry from their Worlds 2018 performance, but then this isn’t really the same team that played last year, having lost their star mid-laner Caps and veteran top laner Soaz. Schalke on the other hand have certainly shown that they should be considered contenders for the top of the ladder, with another impressive performance here today.

SK Gaming – exceL Esports

SK Gaming once again look like a team on the rise after taking down exceL with ease. Losing just a single tower and a single death this game, SK Gaming look like they never left the EU LCS, sliding right back into the mix as another contender for the top of the ladder. If they can improve their performance against the other top teams, SK Gaming might become a dark horse favorite of the league.

G2 Esports – Rogue

G2 Esports continue to look like they’re having a blast as they work their way through the league. It doesn’t seem to matter who they are up against, they never really seem too worried about the outcome of the match. It’s an attitude born of success, that allows their owner to get into the mix with a few jokes of his own.

I am a really good leader I never overpressure my players especially if they are young and unexperienced for the love of me I swear to the seven Gods @G2Mikyx if you ever feed this hard ever again I am going to trade you to the Turkish league I'm a good fair leader pic.twitter.com/EzpH7uqRGf

Splyce – Origen

NA fans will swear that Origen support Mithy was broke before he arrived on their shores and joined TSM, but the truth of the matter is that no-one on Origen really looks amazing when they are playing from behind. Splyce will always be a team to watch out for, with players who are more than capable of stepping up and taking down top teams when needed.

Misfits Gaming – Team Vitality

Misfits seemed to be on a role before this game, looking like easily the strongest team in the league until now. They say pride comes before a fall, and woe betide anyone who looks down on Team Vitality for being “not a top team”, especially after their dominant run last year that booked them a spot at the World Championships. At least it’s fun to see Vitality mid-laner Jiizuke pop off on an assassin champion from time to time.

With the LEC wrapped up for another week, fans can now tune into the LCS as it kicks off its own opening week over in North America. With the action heating up in both regions, fans no longer have to worry about another boring week of the off-season.
