Epic Games is facing another pro-player backlash after their latest competitive season blog post revealed more information about the upcoming season.

TSM Myth Is At A Loss For Words Over Latest Fortnite Update

TSM pro Fortnite player Myth has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment over the latest news for the competitive season. Myth retweeted Fortnite coach Convertible, who originally raised concerns about the selection process for the next major Fortnite event by comparing past statements from Epic Games to more recent updates.

“I really hope whoever is writing the competitive blogs includes a reason behind this shit in blog number 2,” wrote Myth to his followers. “I'm kinda at a lost for words. What's happening internally? Are things disfunctional? Did blog number one have a huge error? Lots of questions that need to be answered.”

The reason behind his anger seems to stem from the fact that the start of Season 8 will also fall on the same day as the start of IEM Katowice and the tournament kick off, meaning there could be some very significant gameplay changes making their way to the game right as the professionals are about to start a new tournament, something Epic Games previously promised would no longer happen.

Another issue comes from the fact that Epic Games previously promised to let players know if an in-game Pop-up Cup would be used for qualification purposes. Matt Layman, Esports lead at Epic, said “we will be very clear when something will be used as a qualifier.”

Unfortunately for players, this would prove to not be the case, with the top 25 players from the Explorer Cup qualifying for the Secret Skirmish, even though no prior word was given that the Explorer Cup would be used for placements. It now falls on Epic Games to reach out to players and clarify whether their previous statements are in fact correct, or if the plan has changed once again.
