LCS Spring Split Week 2 Begins With A Showdown
By Zac Cameron ·
The second week of the LCS has begun with a clash of old rivals, though not every match ended the way we thought it would.
After the games last week brought back memories of days gone by, the LCS is well and truly back in the swing of things as the Spring Split kicks off week 2. Some of the matches from earlier today were certainly surprising in their outcomes, as strong teams took a bit of a tumble against weaker teams, however the overall quality of the games was as strong as ever. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games from day 1 of week 2 in the LCS Spring Split.
Echo Fox – TSM
A pretty interesting game that went about as expected between these two teams. The only problem came with yet another teleport bug, this time centered on a Ryze ultimate that cost Echo Fox a crucial team fight. Hopefully Riot Games can fix whatever the problems are that keep causing this, lest more teams lose games due to glitches.
Cloud9 – Golden Guardians
The poor Golden Guardians just can’t seem to catch a break so far, though don’t let that distract you from the effort Cloud9 has been putting in this split. Despite losing their star mid laner, Cloud9 keep on trucking along, a testament to the skill of the coaching staff and the veteran players who hold the roster together. They may not always look flashy, but you can pretty much always count on Cloud9 to find victory somehow.
100 Thieves – Team Liquid
Yet another disappointing game for 100 Thieves, as Team Liquid continue their winning streak. Doublelift continues to perform as the best AD Carry in North America, and his partnership with Danish mid laners always delivers hyped up victories for his team, no matter the branding on the jersey. Don’t worry though, I hear 100 Thieves is getting some sweet new merchandise sometime in the future.
Flyquest – CLG
An unexpected result between these two teams, as CLG find their first win of the split and hand Flyquest their first loss. It is only week 2 however, so perhaps fans shouldn’t read too much into it, but then again, if you have no faith, why are you even here?
Clutch Gaming – OpTic Gaming
Clutch Gaming and OpTic Gaming are beginning to cement their own rivalry in the LCS, with their clashes last year continuing into todays match. It’s always nice to see new rivals face off, lest we all keep talking about TSM and Cloud9, or TSM and CLG, or TSM and any other team that exists. Man, fans really like talking about TSM for some reason. Either way, kudos to OpTic Gaming for standing strong despite the organization’s shaky foundations these days.
Halfway through the second week and we’re already begging for more games. Hopefully the action is just as intense tomorrow, when the teams clash once again in the LCS.
