University At Buffalo And York University Suffer Competitive Rulings In Collegiate LoL

While the Collegiate League of Legends season has been producing some very impressive games and players, for at least two universities the news isn’t all sweet. The University at Buffalo and York University have both received competitive rulings this week, after Riot Games discovered some anomalies with the players on the teams.

York University’s competitive ruling is the less severe one, coming after an administration error led to the team fielding an ineligible player in one of their games. While the player in question did not pass the required sportsmanship check, an administration error caused Riot Games to fail to inform the team that the player was not eligible to play for York University until after the game in question. Due to the nature of the error, Riot Games elected to allow the match result to stand, however the player in question is suspended for the remainder of the 2019 College LoL Season.

The University at Buffalo on the other hand have suffered a much harsher penalty in their competitive ruling. An investigation by Riot Games found that the university had used a ringer (a player not on the roster) for one of their games, and as a result the team has had their match result overturned and the team has been disqualified for the remainder of the 2019 College LoL Season.
