After the Europeans failed to impress with the new Champion, Cloud9's top laner Licorice took up the burden of showcasing Sylas' strength.

Cloud9 Shows The Power Of Sylas In The LCS

Sylas has now made his debut in both the LEC and the LCS, and while his performance yesterday in Europe was less than optimal, Cloud9 was able to use his strengths to great effect in their victory over TSM earlier today.

“They just had so many ultimate’s that were so high impact if I stole them,” Cloud9 top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie said in the post-game interview. “Like Lissandra, Zilean, or Sion ult were all really big in team fights, so it looked like the game for Sylas. I think my Sylas definitely still needs some work, though.”

Licorice had a bit of a slow start with Sylas as he squared off against a tanky Sion, facing losing trades as he struggled to build up his own strength to combat the behemoth. TSM dominated the early game across the map, as Cloud9 were repeatedly put on the back foot, however Licorice was able to turn things around once he had gained a few items, and with the help of team mate Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi on Ezreal, Cloud9 were able to take the fight to their longtime rivals.

“Just play really crazy,” Licorice said, giving advice to any aspiring Sylas mains. “I think that in scrims when we were trying [Sylas], playing super crazy felt super super good. And then on stage it was a lot more like ‘I don’t wanna die,’ and like any time I’m scared I just play back. But I think you just play crazy and go for it, and the champion is really good.”

Excellent advice from the team that is now tied for second place with Flyquest, as both teams trail Team Liquid in the LCS. Cloud9 will take on Clutch Gaming tomorrow as they look to continue their winning streak, though only time will tell if they are allowed to pick Sylas once again.
