Brand New Infantry Rifle Coming Soon To Fortnite

Players logging into Fortnite Battle Royale received a surprise today with the welcome banner featuring a new weapon that will soon be making its appearance to the game. The Infantry Rifle looks like a classic World War 2 rifle and resembles the Hunting Rifle with the classic wooden stock. The blue background on the announcement image suggests that there might be a Rare version of the gun scattered across the map, though at this stage we don’t know exactly how many variants there might be.

As for when the gun should arrive in the game, the v7.40 update is scheduled to arrive on February 12^th, so we might see the gun as soon as then. At the moment it’s unclear how the gun will work in the game, whether it will be similar to the Hunting Rifle, though that seems unlikely given that they would both then be serving the same purpose. It looks extremely familiar to the old M1 Garand, a bulky and powerful semi-automatic rifle used during the second World War. The M1 Garand has been present in countless games over the years, including the extremely popular Call of Duty franchise, so it’s no surprise that it would eventually end up here in Fortnite as well.
