deadmau5 Banned From Twitch for Using Homophobic Slur
By Nicholas Barth ·
Popular EDM musician deadmau5 has been banned from Twitch following his use of a homophobic slur while streaming.

Joel "deadmau5" Zimmerman is one of the world's most popular electronic dance music (EDM) musicians and is an avid streamer on the platform of Twitch where viewers can often find deadmau5 streaming Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) or the creation of his musical and visual effects work. However, deadmau5 has now been banned from Twitch following the musician reportedly calling a stream sniper a "f**king c**k sucking stream sniper f*g" during a streaming session on Twitch.

After the EDM musician had been banned from the streaming platform, a thread on the deadmau5 subreddit was created where a discussion of why the artist had been issued a ban from the platform was being held. The streamer and DJ went on to post a response on this particular thread where he stated that he would no longer be working with Twitch due to the platform's "double standard when it comes to censoring".
The music industry personality also stated that his words were "intended to insult a f**kin asshat who was being a f**king asshat" and that "it wasn't directed at an entire group of people who have a sexual orientation differs from my own".
While the original response post by the artist regarding himself being banned has been deleted, you can find the full response from deadmau5 in the photo below thanks to esports and video game industry insider Rod "Slasher" Breslau.
It is currently unclear what the exact length of the ban handed down to deadmau5 was. However, with the musician already having deleted his Twitch channel due to himself being banned, it is highly unlikely that viewers will be seeing the artist streaming on the platform ever again even when his ban is no longer in effect.
What are your thoughts on the situation involving deadmau5 being banned from Twitch? Was the ban warranted or unwarranted? Let us know in the comments below.
