Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas Second Edition Announced

Roland Garros, BNP Paribas, and BIGBEN have announced the second edition of the popular Tennis World Tour esports competition in the Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas that will be kicking off in February in order to crown the world tennis gaming champion for 2019.

Qualifying rounds for the highly anticipated Tennis World Tour esports event will begin in February where players from the countries of Germany, the United States, France, China, India, Brazil, Great Britain, Belgium, Italy, and Spain. Players interested in battling it out for a chance to secure the Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas 2019 championship can register for the qualifying rounds on the tournament's official website.

"Following on from the enthusiasm shown for the first Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas, we wanted to go one step further this year with the second edition of this international e-tennis tournament, to offer fans and gamers the best possible experience," said Stephane Morel, Deputy CEO of the French Tennis Federation's Marketing and Business Development department. "I am convinced that this new worldwide competition and its new features will incite great enthusiasm in participants from the competitions ten host countries. We are proud to share this ambition with our partners BNP Paribas and BIGBEN, and are eager to get this new season started!"

Various national finals for the eligible countries will be taking place at select tennis tournaments that include the Internazionali BNL di Roma and the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes de Lyon. BNP Paribas will also host national finals in its premises in Shanghai, Bombay, Frankfurt, and London.

The national qualifying rounds for the event will be utilizing the online mode of Tennis World Tour on the Playstation 4. Eight of the best players from the qualifying phase of the tournament's countries will gather together in person to compete in a final qualifying round in their respective country. The winners of the national finals for each country will then represent their country in the grand final of the Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas event where a champion will be crowned.

Two special events for the registered members of the French Tennis Federation and members of the We Are Tennis by BNP Paribas platform will be held during the first week of Roland-Garros in order to determine who will take the last spot in the final.

The international grand final will be held during the Parisian Grand Slam where the winner will walk away with a $5,000 grand prize from the total $10,000 prize pool. This second edition of the prestigious tournament will see players will compete against one another on the pre-release version of the latest Tennis World Tour - Roland-Garros Edition video game that will be released on Playstation 4, Xbox One Nintendo Switch and PC on May 16th.
