With around a week to go before MDL Macau kicks off, one of the top teams set to attend the tournament and challenge for the title has been forced to pull out due to a medical emergency. LGD Gaming, runners-up for The International 2018, announced through social media that they will not be attending the event due to medical complications for their offlane player Yang “Chalice” Shenyi.
We regret to inform you that due to Chalice having serious medical complications, our #Dota2 team will be missing the MDL Macau event.

Chalice underwent what the organization is calling a “minor surgery” following the team’s successful qualification for the DreamLeague Season 11 Pro Circuit Major. Some time after the procedure Chalice reportedly suffered post-operation ulceration that led to an infection.
This is actually not the first time LGD has been forced out of an event due to medical reasons, with the team pulling out of DPL Season 6 in December of 2018. In late January of this year, the organization announced that Lu “Maybe” Yao had requested personal time away from the team and game, which the team granted. That break has so far seen Maybe get married and enjoy his honeymoon.

After the conclusion of the #ChongqingMajor, Lu 'Maybe' Yao requested some time off, due to personal and physical reasons.
After internal discussion, LGD Gaming has decided to respect his wishes and approve his application to leave temporarily.
Newbee will be taking LGD’s spot at MDL Macau for now, after their fourth-place finish at the Chinese Qualifiers. Fans will be hoping everyone on LGD makes a full return soon, before they face off against the best in the world in the DreamLeague Season 11 tournament.
