Apex Legends Have Banned Over 16,000 Players Already
By Zac Cameron ·
One of the fastest growing games in the Battle Royale genre is already taking a hard stance against cheaters.

Over 16,000 players have already been banned from Apex Legends, as Respawn Entertainment looks to keep the good will going for their venture into the Battle Royale genre. In an effort to be more open with the community, the Respawn team have been frequenting the forums and subreddit for the game, promising that they are listening and acting on what the community is talking about. One of those hot topics in any game these days, is how the developers handle cheaters in their game, and Respawn is taking a very proactive approach to the problem.
2.15.2019: An Update From Respawn from r/apexlegends
In a post on the Apex Legends subreddit over the weekend, the team took time to explain how they are working on the issues that are popping up, including bugs and crashes. One of those issues that they took time to address directly is the handling of cheaters in the game. “Cheaters Suck” is the overwhelming message from the team, as they include a link where people can submit evidence of any bad behavior to the team. There is also talk of adding a report function to the game, to make it even easier for players to point out inconsistencies when they happen.
Other Battle Royale titles have had different ways of dealing with the problems caused by cheaters, but it’s rare to see a developer so open about the number of banned players this early on into the game’s life. Fortnite, the major competition for Apex Legends right now, did release statements regarding their handling of cheaters, but they remain quite vague about the exact number, while PUBG has a whole kettle of other problems with their game that results in the number of bans reaching the millions. Hopefully Respawn can keep up the good work, and Apex Legends can continue to be the most fun game to come out of nowhere for a while longer.
