The Internet Reacts to the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Reveal
By Jason Fanelli ·
The next great Pokemon adventure has finally been brought to the public eye, and those who took it in had plenty to say about it once it dropped.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, the first core Pokemon experiences for the Nintendo Switch, were finally revealed to the world yesterday in a seven-minute Pokemon Direct. Suffice it to say that fans around social media were very quick to react to all of the new information, and we’ve gathered a slew of the best Tweets of the day right here.
First there are the names themselves, which made some people immediately think of a certain existing Pokemon:
What a great #PokemonDay for Aegislash, and for all of us! really hyped! #PokemonSwordShield pic.twitter.com/kYnWm2Twgi

The new starters, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble, were easily the biggest reaction getters of the day. They not only took the Internet by storm but also instantly started the next great Twitter war: which one is best?
Team Grookey made their presence known in support of the Grass Monkey:

probably gonna choose Sobble because Sobble is severely my shit...however getting a Grass Monkey starter would have the benefit of getting to sing Beastie Boys to it all the time

Team Scorbunny had plenty of supporters come out to talk about their new favorite flaming rabbit:

Finally, Team Sobble couldn’t get enough of the tiny water lizard:

It’s safe to say Pokemon fans are more than ready to explore this new world and bring their new starter friends with them. While we don’t know exactly when that’ll happen yet, it’s good to know there’s a new Pokemon adventure on the horizon.
