Dr DisRespect Wants Apex Legends Loot to Change in Major Way
By Nicholas Barth ·
Popular Twitch streamer Dr DisRespect recently explained how he wants to see Apex Legends loot change.

Guy "Dr DisRespect" Beahm has been one of the many Twitch streamers who has shifted the main focus of their channel to the massively popular battle royale title of Apex Legends. While Apex Legends has received plenty of praise from the likes of Dr DisRespect and the majority of the video game world, there are still some things that players would like to see Apex Legends try. Taking to his Twitter account on March 11th, Dr. DisRespect explained how he believes developer Respawn Entertainment should try to change the loot system of the title.
The common element featured in every game of the battle royale genre is the completely randomized loot system where players do not know where specific pieces of loot will be found in a given match.
Even though the randomized loot element has been a major driving force in the excitement and entertainment that battle royale titles provide, Dr DisRespect believes that Apex Legends should be the first title to try out a set loot system where players would know exactly where certain pieces of loot could be found. This set loot system, according to Dr DisRespect, would help to develop a professional scene by eliminating the random nature of the title and help to create better narratives for casters to relay to spectators.
I think Respawn should really consider trying out set loot with @PlayApex. Not only would it legitimize the pro scene by eliminating RNG, it would also create POI for loot, higher risk/reward for specific high tier items, and a stronger narrative for casting/spectating.

Responses to the idea from Dr DisRespect of a set loot system in Apex Legends were of a mixed variety with an agreement, disagreement, and others giving their own spin on a potential system similar to what Dr DisRespect had described.
I think just getting rid of hotzones in general and make every location have the same exact number of items spread out and drop percentage. Keep the BR RNG, eliminate everyone dropping in the same spot each game.

Hard pass on this. Maybe a dedicated mode, but RNG is the core of BR. The feeling when you open a standard loot chest and find a gold item gets that dopamine flowing in a way that set loot spawns wouldn’t.

This is actually an AMAZING idea. This is what eliminates RNG from BR's and will actually elevate it to a full skill-based game.

After being asked by Optic Gaming content creator Mike "DI3SEL" Carr would this set loot system in Apex Legends have everyone begins with only a pistol or a full equipped loadout, Dr DisRespect stated that Apex Legends players could drop in with a low tier loadout or still nothing but would be able to get geared up by dropping into an area where you would know exactly what kind of loot is available there.
Maybe everyone drops in with a default low end loadout or nothing at all but with map experience, you would drop in an area with knowledge of whats there already.

Do you think that a set loot system like the one suggested by Dr DisRespect would be an upgrade to Apex Legends or would it ruin a major aspect of the game's battle royale nature? Let us know in the comments below.
