Shroud Returns to Stream After Accident

Earlier this week we reported on a scary scooter accident that will keep fragging CS:GO legend, and Twitch star Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek from playing a peak performance for a while.

Today, in his first stream back from the hospital, he went into some more details (on top of those his roommate went into on their stream) regarding his accident, recounting the actual events and getting into what’s ahead for the popular streamer.

As he states in the clip from his recent stream, Shroud expects to be without the full use of his left arm and hand (his WASD hand) for at least six weeks, which is a lot of time for someone that makes their living as a streamer. He says he’s still going to try and stream every day but admits that things will be “pretty chill” for a while, with high-level competitive effort taking a seat on the bench.

According to Shroud’s surgeon, the initial assessment of the injury should be accurate, but there could be more work to be done. With a heavy elbow fracture, there is plenty of potential for smaller breaks in some of the tinier pieces of the joint. “They won’t know the full extent until they cut me open,” Shroud said, expressing that there could be a longer window for his recovery if more damage is found that needs repair.

For a guy that could have had a much scarier outcome to his accident, Shroud was in a pretty relaxed and jovial mood on Thursday, even taking jabs at DrDisRespect by saying “I’m looting like the Doc” referring to how slow he was capable of looting with limited left-hand movement.

On strict doctor’s orders to “stretch and move your fingers”, Shroud decided to give his most popular recent title a shot and booted up EA’s Apex Legends. You’d think that his hardly functioning left arm would even the playing field in the arena just slightly, but you’d be wrong. Shroud looks almost as good as ever, despite his inability to comfortably hit his spacebar, or use the crouch key.

While we wait for one of Twitch’s greatest gaming talents to get back to 100%, we should probably take this moment to remind you to wear some sort of protective gear while riding scooters. Or anything motorized. Or anything at all.

We could always hope for a speedy recovery, sit back, and watch the memes continue to roll in. Either way, we can't wait to see Shroud back in full form soon.
