Washington Justice Earn First Win in the Overwatch League
By Wyatt Fossett ·
Defeating the unimpressive Florida Mayhem, the freshly built Washington Justice expansion team finally notched a win in their final match of the Overwatch League 2019 Stage 1.

After nearly beating the Paris Eternal in a down-to-the-wire match on Saturday night, the winless Washington Justice had one more shot to prove that their record is not a proper reflection of their skill. It went the distance, needing five whole maps against the Florida Mayhem, but the 2019 expansion team from Washington finally snagged their first win in their Overwatch League history.
Justice For Washington
The Justice matchup against the Mayhem had a very different feel about it heading into the final Sunday of Stage 1 play. The Blizzard Arena was buzzing, but not because there were intense playoff implications in the betting stack. Rather, the Washington Justice, and their star player Ado took to the stage without a single win, ever.
Thankful for our first win and thankful for @FLMayhem for a good fight until the end.

Most of all, thank you for all the Justice fans who believe in us and inspire us every single day.#JusticeIsServed pic.twitter.com/as8AMn6Cm3
New to the league, the Justice had lost 6-straight games leading up to today’s matchup and with a winless record, took advantage of their final opportunity to head into the break on a high note. Their squad -- Corey, Janus, Sansam, Gido, Fahzix, and Ado -- performed extremely well, if at times a little indecisively when it counted. It may not have counted for anything in the standings, but the crowd and the casters exploded when the overtime clock hit zero.
Their opponents in the Florida Mayhem may just be the only remaining team from Stage 1 that showed few moments of greatness, leading to what can only be assumed will be a difficult break before Stage 2 gets underway in early April.
Much Ado About Nothing
Ado, on the other hand, served as a member of the winless Shanghai Dragons in the 2018 Overwatch League season and sat down at his computer today having lost in 40+ straight games. The live studio audience and swarms of supporters in Twitch chat came to the aid of Ado and cheered him on to his first ever OWL win.
It was an emotional victory, for the epic Brigitte player. He was sure to thank his parents for giving him the ability and talent that would lead not only to him being good enough to play in the Overwatch League, but also to get his first win on the mainstage.
The newly formed Washington Justice should easily win the Most Potential award after Stage 1, as they put so many great games on the Blizzard Arena stage, but just couldn’t pull out many wins.
As the world of Overwatch celebrates alongside the Washington Justice and Ado, we look back at Week 5 in our recap, coming shortly.
