Tuesday, March 19th is set to be a very big day in the life of Apex Legends, as the title will be receiving its first major content drop in the form of the Season 1: Wild Frontier update that will see a Battle Pass full of items and the new character of Octane be added into the game. However, the reveal of the rewards for all 100 tiers of the Apex Legends Season 1: Wild Frontier update Battle Pass was not met with complete positivity, as some players found the rewards did not live up to expectations.

Seeing this criticism, Respawn Entertainment published a blog post to explain their philosophy behind the creation of the Wild Frontier update content.

Apex Legends Battle Pass Rewards Criticism Response

The main thought process by Respawn Entertainment behind the various rewards that are available to earn through the new piece of Apex Legends content was that they wanted first-time spenders can gather a strong collection of weapon and character cosmetic items for their inventories. Legendary and Epic cosmetic item packs, the first three-stage evolving Havoc weapon skin, and the 1,000 coins that are available to earn throughout the Apex Legends Season1: Wild Frontier update Battle Pass were also rewards that the developer highlighted in its design philosophy statement.

In their public response giving a look inside the thought process for how the Season 1: Wild Frontier update Battle Pass was created, Respawn Entertainment also stated that they wanted the first iteration to be focused on having players "learn and experiment with the core Apex Legends experience" at the same time they earned the rewards that the tiers of the new piece of Apex Legends Wild Frontier update content offer them.

The first three character skins in the Battle Pass were not a hit with some players.

While the Battle Pass in Fortnite accompanies weekly challenges that players can complete in order to level up the tiers and earn rewards, Respawn Entertainment explained that they wanted the Season 1: Wild Frontier update Battle Pass to "just play and learn the game". However, the developer went on to state that they believe there is a unique opportunity for challenges in future passes.
