Dark Horse Comics' Hellboy is Coming to Brawlhalla
By Wyatt Fossett ·
Bursting from the depths of hell, the Right Hand of Doom smashes his way into theatres, and into the fray in just a few short weeks, as Hellboy arrives in theatres and in Brawlhalla.

Made by indie development studio Blue Mammoth Games, Brawlhalla is one of those darlings that has steadily grown its fan-base over the years and is hotly celebrated among its community. The cartoon 2D brawling game recently announced that it would be adding notable comic book character Hellboy to its lineup.
In celebration and lead-up to the release of the David Harbour led Hellboy “soft reboot” film (coming in the early weeks of April), Brawlhalla is bringing the witty Right Hand of Doom to the battlefield. In today’s world, we can’t think of any other pop culture character that would be a better addition to the Brawlhalla lineup of Legends than Hellboy. With his scary right hook, use of a rather large pistol, and history of sword combat, it's easy to see where he fits in.
The Belle of the Brawl
Since its release in November of 2015, Brawlhalla has only become more polished, and more popular. With more content, and a steadily growing audience, Brawlhalla is a mainstay in the fighting game community. Now, in year four, they sit atop an indie fighting game mountain that sees the internal team managing a vibrant Esports community and a constant stream of updates and tweaks.
The game plays like a beautiful dance between Smash Bros. and Street Fighter, with glorious 2D cartoon-drawn characters, intense move-sets, elaborate maps, and even a widely respected duo versus competitive mode.
In year four of the Brawlhalla Esports life, Blue Mammoth Games has built a wonderful competitive community around large-scale tournaments and huge event attendance. They also recently announced the Brawlhalla Pro Series.
Friends With Benefits
Just a year ago, Blue Mammoth Games joined the Ubisoft family, and the assistance in growth and exposure has been astronomical since. The effects on the games lineup also came pretty immediately, as Ubisoft’s own Rayman joined the fray.
Now, thanks to Ubisoft’s grand relationship with Lionsgate Pictures, the fans of Brawlhalla will get to play as or against the Dark Horse Comic’s character of Hellboy. First released to the world in the early ’90s, Hellboy is an earth-tied demon who joins forces with other strange beings in order to fight and protect reality from the armies of hell. He’s brash, he’s arrogant, and he’s funny.
There is little wiggle room on the information in the official press release because there isn’t a whole lot of it, but we’re hoping there is something else neat added to the game from the Hellboy universe. Maybe some iconic voice lines, or a map? We're excited to hear more.
Hellboy will be available in-game in early April. Though no release date was given, it will most likely land somewhere near the launch of the movie in theatres.
