KingRichard Accused of Not Paying for Twitch Stream Designs
By Nicholas Barth ·
Popular Twitch streamer KingRichard allegedly did not pay a motion graphics design company for the work they created for the content creator in 2018.
Richard "KingRichard" Nelson is a popular Twitch streamer for NRG Esports and is known as a talented battle royale player with a successful history of competing in Fortnite Battle Royale and Apex Legends. However, the successful competitive history of KingRichard is not the reason for the Twitch streamer being in the public eye on Tuesday, April 2nd.
KingRichard Twitch Controversy
Taking to Twitter on April 2nd, a designer by the name of Gabe or "G4K" posted a video accusing KingRichard of refusing to pay for motion design work that he contracted G4K to create for his Twitch channel.
In the now deleted Twitter video, G4K stated that he and his team were hired by KingRichard and his manager to do a variety of work in an effort to do a full rebrand of the streamer's Twitch channel. However, after completing the work for the Twitch channel of KingRichard, G4K claims that the content creator used the design work on his stream for a period of a week before taking it down and replacing it while not paying the full price for the work.
According to the video posted on Twitter by G4K, KingRichard had paid an advance of 10% of the total cost for the Twitch stream design work. However, the designer stated that KingRichard's manager later told them that he and the streamer no longer liked the work that had been done and that they were not going to pay the rest of the cost even though they had used the assets that had been created.
In response to the accusations from G4K, KingRichard explained his side of the story on his Twitch channel where he stated that "it’s a lot more to it than me just paying him now. I’m definitely not paying anything after someone literally defames my character."
The popular battle royale community member went on to explain that he had decided to "wash his hands from the project" due to nothing being right with the work in terms of what KingRichard was wanting for his Twitch channel. KingRichard also stated that he is not using any of the assets created by G4K and that the week period that he did use them was when the two parties "were still working together on trying to come up with a solution to get the project to where it was."
However, it looks as though KingRichard and G4K were able to converse and decide to meet and discuss the issue, as the designer posted to his Twitter account that both parties were going to resolve the situation in private.
We had a conversation with @KingRichard. We're going to solve this privately.
