New Apex Legends Weapons Found in Game Files
By Wyatt Fossett ·
The dataminers are at it again. This time, it looks like they've managed to dig up not only the names for a bunch of unreleased (and potentially upcoming) guns in the hit Battle Royale game Apex Legends, but the art models as well. \n

With the accidental player progression bug in Apex Legends this week, some gamers were starting to unlock skins for a gun that has yet to even be released in the game. The L-Star, is the featured gun held by Bloodhound on the loading and splash screen. The accidental addition of the weapon’s skins means we will probably see it release to the wild very shortly.
Notable dataminer ApexLeaksNews also found some weapon models and connecting voice lines to six weapons that have yet to be released. In a tweet, ApexLeaksNews makes mention that the model files were added into databases within the Season 1 folders, meaning their inclusion may be more imminent than originally anticipated. In the same thread, they make note that newly released Legend Octane has voice lines in the game folders that pertain to these weapons specifically.
Most of these weapons were added into the files with Season 1.

Considering that Octane, the brand new Legend, has ping dialogue for all 6 of these, mean they are most likely real.
Note:
Launcher & GrenadeLauncher have no models, they are probably renamed models.
Apex Legend's New Weapons?
Sir Romney on giphy was nice enough to make some easy to digest gifs of the new gun models.
The most interesting weapon in the stack of unearthed files is the Softball. This gun is very obviously a grenade launcher and could shake up the entire strategy of the game in its current state. Weapons have, up until this point, been direct projectile weapons, or energy-based ammunition. Other than grenades, this would be the first addition of player-controlled splash damage.
Some of the other weapons in this find seem to be new, like the ARL and Defender, while other weapons in the files are either pulled directly from the Titanfall franchise or seem to be inspired heavily by weapons as seen in those two FPS titles.
When Are They Coming?
It is a bit of a mystery when these weapons will be released in Apex Legends. It’s important to note that in the two months since its launch, Respawn has released just one single new weapon into the game. It could very well be that Respawn are gearing up for an opening of the content flood gates. Which would make sense, since they must have had to refocus some things internally due to the massive success of the Apex Legends launch.
We’re excited to see what’s coming in Apex Legends as far as new content goes. Both new Legends and new gear are going to do a lot to spice up this fast-paced shooter.
