The Rocket League World Championship is Heading to New Jersey
By Wyatt Fossett ·
For the first time since Season 4 of the Rocket League Championship Series, the World Finals event will be held on the East Coast of the United States.

There has long been a beautiful cross-section of Sports and Esports fans living within the world of Rocket League’s competitive environment. With nothing quite like it, the Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars have fully established a large fanbase with their skill-filled Esports pro-league, the RLCS.
The Rocket League Championship Series consists of three regions, and all culminates in a World Championship at the end of the year where the best Rocket League team on Earth is crowned. Last year, the finals tournament was held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year, the finals head back to the East Coast.
Season 7 World Championship
With the launch of RLCS Season 7 today, Psyonix announced that the Rocket League World Championship would return to the East Coast of the United States for the first time since Season 4. The 2019 RLCS World Championships will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, in June.
The best teams in the North American and European regions are joined by the best teams from the Oceania league, and they will all shoot it out in front of a live stadium audience for Rocket League supremacy.

Last year’s RLCS World Champions in Cloud9 will look to make a repeat performance, this time around they will do so on home soil.
Today, that same Cloud9 team dominated Splyce in their opening match-up of the Rocket League Championship Series’ 7th Season. The 3-0 scoreline speaks highly into their off-season training, and the trio’s mindset heading into this year.
Didn’t play as well as I’d like to that series but my teammates are insane so it’s alright. We take the first series of our RLCS Season 7 league play 3-0 against Splyce.

Reformatting
On the topic of the World Finals, Psyonix also revealed that they would be moving away from the tournament’s double-elimination standard format. Instead, the 2019 World Finals will adopt a Group Stage, followed by a single elimination tournament. Twelve teams will be invited from regions around the globe, where they will be split into groups.
Top teams from those groups after the stage will then advance to the elimination round until only one team remains.
Early Bird tickets will be released to the public on Friday, April 12th, at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Keep your eyes on the RLEsports Twitter account for links to the ticket sales in the coming days.
For now, we can enjoy some high-tier competitive Rocket League for the next few months over on the RocketLeague Twitch Channel.
