Overwatch Player Discovers Mei Wall Stops Baptiste's Lamp

In a post on Reddit, user mimjob shows off a Baptiste breaking Mei wall that could spell a hard counter to the new hero's unique kit.

The newest Overwatch hero has a pretty unique kit of abilities. You can read all about those skills in our how to play Baptiste guide. One of his most interesting abilities is his immortality field.
Baptiste’s ‘E’ ability sees the combat medic throw out a disc that hovers above the ground and projects a field of immortality in a circle around it. When inside this field, the last like 10% of any friendly heroes’ health cannot be taken. It’s not a shield from damage, merely a halt on dying. If you are 100% going into it, you can still take 90% of your damage. It’s just that final 10% that gets locked when inside the projection. The projector is a physical object and can be destroyed by enemies in order to stop the effect.
Heading into Stage 2 of the Overwatch League, Baptiste’s kit has been high on many lists in regards to exciting things to look forward to. We’ve seen minimal play on the new hero so far, but the pro-level Baptiste plays have been worth the hype.
With all that hype, however, Overwatch players have been fooling around with the new hero, and one even found a way to disturb the projectors affect on health without destroying the item itself.
Shown in a video clip posted on Reddit by user u/mimjob, placing a Mei ice wall just off to the side of the immortality field projector stops the ability from reaching heroes on the opposite side of the wall.
Found a cool trick with Mei countering Baptiste frisbees from r/Overwatch
It’s a pretty weird workaround, as the Mei would most likely just take the time to shoot the projector out of the sky, but it’s an interesting outcome.
Prior to the launch of Baptiste to the public servers, plenty of players were goofing around with Baptiste on the test realm. This brought out an important question regarding the immortality field and line-of-sight (or LOS). Players had found that standing on the other side of the wall from the field would still supply them with the effects of the ability.
To the public, it’s unclear as to whether or not the LOS on Baptiste’s immortality field is mandatory. The team designing the hero haven’t said anything regarding the immortality through walls. But it does look like the immortality field (or LAMP as the community has begun calling it) can be negated by simply breaking the line-of-sight.
This means that the Mei ice wall strat is either a bug -- and those players should still be getting the immortality effect -- or it’s the best strat because that hero can make walls almost wherever she wants.
What do you think? Is the Baptiste ability LOS? Is the Mei a perfect counter to his hardest ability to deal with?
