Fortnite Baller Nerf Announced Ahead of World Cup Qualifier

Saturday, April 13th is the day that the competitive Fortnite Battle Royale community has been waiting for a very long time, as it will mark the start of Week 1 of the 10 weekly Online Open Qualifier events for the Fortnite World Cup where players can earn a share of a $1,000,000 prize pool and a spot in the $30,000,000 Fortnite World Cup Finals. However, there have been plenty of concerns raised by players leading up to the Week 1 Fortnite World Cup Online Open Qualifier regarding a variety of topics with the Baller vehicle being highlighted as one of the most problematic, as many players feel it is too overpowered and is in need of a nerf or to be removed entirely.

This concern of the Baller vehicle led Epic Games to apply a nerf to the item ahead of the Week 1 Fortnite World Cup Online Open Qualifier.

Taking to the official Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit, Epic Games announced that a change had been applied to the health of the vehicle in a hotfix update that had been implemented for the title. The nerf reduced the health of the baller vehicle from 300 to 200. The developer also mentioned in the announcement of the Baller vehicle health change that it had played around with the idea of allowing players to shoot through the glass of the Baller vehicle. However, Epic Games ultimately decided that this was not the right nerf for the item.

While many players were pleased to see that Epic Games had finally taken a step in applying a nerf to the Baller vehicle, there were plenty of others who felt that this particular nerf to the unpopular item will not make much of a difference in a competitive environment and more action needs to be taken by the developer.
