Is PSN Down? PlayStation Network Server Status Possibly Down

Is PSN down? That is a question many players are asking, as they are reporting trouble with their PlayStation Network status.
This week has seen plenty of news surround the PlayStation platform gaming with the welcomed announcement of players being able to finally change their PlayStation Network (PSN) names. However, Thursday, April 11th looks to have possibly brought a bit of negative news to the PlayStation Network world, as many players are reporting that their PSN server status is down.

Many PlayStation players have been taking to social media in the past hour wondering if the server status for the gaming platform's network had gone down, as issues with connections, friends lists, and other areas are being reported.

Independent network service status detection site Down Detector has also reported a massive surge of reports of PSN being down by the community. However, the official PlayStation Support Twitter account for the United Kingdom is stating that all services are running normally. The official PSN server status report page also currently lists all services for the platform as not down and running as intended.
Many have suggested that the problems users are currently suffering from could be a result of the name change that they or the entire community has been performing in the past day, as this could be causing unintended problems to be springing up for those who have changed their account names recently.
This points to the PSN server status being down for the affected players as possibly a localized network issue that is not affecting the system as a whole. Unfortunately, it looks as though this issue is still causing the server status for the PlayStation Network of a wide range of users to be down currently. This is a developing story that we will be keeping an eye on and continuing to update with new information once it is made available publicly.
