By Nicholas Barth ·
Representing the Boston Uprising in Overwatch Contenders, Toronto Esports has announced the roster that will be competing for them.
Overwatch Contenders is where aspiring Overwatch League players can make a name themselves, as the developmental league looks to foster and mold the next generation of Overwatch League stars. Each current Overwatch League team automatically receives a spot in Overwatch Contenders and have created their own new teams to represent them. Other teams have gone the route of partnering with existing esports organizations to have them manage their representative in Contenders. This is the case for the Boston Uprising, as they have partnered with Toronto Esports to be their Contenders team. Looking to show fans who they will be rooting for in Overwatch Contenders, Toronto Esports has announced their roster for the upcoming season.
The roster consists of the following players:
- Dalton “Dalton” Bennyhoff – DPS
- Charlie “nero” Zwarg – DPS
- Jeong-hoon “Pumple” Lee – Flex
- Joon-hwan “Guardian” Cho – Tank
- Grant “moth” Espe – Support
- Jin-seo “Shu” Kim – Support
In the official announcement, Toronto Esports Overwatch Coach and Manager Sam “Hexo” Bouchard voiced his excitement about working with this group of players.
“I'm ecstatic to be working with such a talented roster, this group of guys has shown so much potential and we couldn't ask for a better team to represent us this contenders season. They're all so young and hungry to compete, I expect great things from them and I know I wont be disappointed.”
"I'm very excited to be able to work with the core of our previous roster once again and with the addition of a few new names, I'm sure they will do great things in contenders." Said Toronto Esports Overwatch General Manager Tommy "itsToye" Yeung.
Toronto Esports is looking for the addition of Pumple, Guardian and Shu to help the team immensely, due to the experience they bring from their playing time in Korea. Boston will be expecting Toronto Esports to make waves for them in the ranks of Overwatch Contenders.
