In an exclusive interview with Wired, Sony Lead System Architect Mark Cerny revealed that the PlayStation 5 next-gen console will not see a release date take place in 2019. However, Cerny explained that Sony has already ramped up its deploying of PS5 devkits to developers in order for them to have plenty of time to create new titles for the next-gen device when it officially arrives.
While no release date window was provided by Cerny for the PlayStation 5, the fact that developers are already getting devkits for the PS5 means that a release date for the piece of hardware in 2020 or 2021 would not be too far fetched of an idea.
