Ninja Turns Camera Off While Eating During Ramadan
By Wyatt Fossett ·
This week, Ninja made a considerate move to shut off his face camera while he eats in order to respect those observing Ramadan.

In a rather kind move, famous Fortnite player and Twitch personality Ninja displayed some consideration for other cultures and religions on his stream the other day. Not that Ninja is generally inconsiderate in nature, but he does have some blemishes on his record. So, it's always a plus to get to spread more good.
During one of his streams near the beginning of Ramadan, Ninja did what almost every other streamer does, they eat while on stream. The longer you stay live, the bigger audience you build. So most Twitch streamers won’t go offline just to eat.
Nearly three hours into his stream, Ninja busted out some Tacos that he was very excited to eat (looking at them, I don’t blame him). At first, chat did what it usually does and asked ninja to show them what he’s eating. Not seeing the few mentions of Ramadan, Ninja turned his camera over to his overhead, showing off the Tacos.
Shortly after returning his set-up to the normal picture in picture, one viewer simply wrote “Bruh, I’m fasting,” and the look on Ninja’s face changed. Immediately he reached over and turned off his face cam.
“Sorry for the people who are doing Ramadan. I’ll make sure to hide my screen when I eat for the rest of Ramadan,” Ninja said after turning off his camera.
Using the “!cam” command in chat during Ramadan will prompt the bot to share the message out to viewers who may be wondering why Ninja has his camera off. “During Ramadan (Muslim month of fasting) Ninja has been turning off his cam while he eats to show consideration for those who may be fasting,“ reads the Nightbot message.
Ramadan is an observation by those of Muslim faith that consists of a month of fasting in commemoration of Muhammad’s first revelation in the Quran. It is part of a month-long contemplation, reflection, and prayer period for Muslim people. The annual observation of fasting during Ramadan is part of the Five Pillars of Islam.
Ninja has one of the largest consistent audiences the world over on the popular streaming platform, and for him to be aware, be considerate, and to encourage part of another’s religious practice is a mighty large statement on who he may be as a real person.
