The organization of Immortals Gaming Club is reportedly close to acquiring Infinite Esports and Entertainment, the parent company of leading esports brand OpTic Gaming.

The esports industry could see a major shift in its landscape in the near future if a deal between Immortals Gaming Club and Infinite Esports and Entertainment, the parent company of OpTic Gaming, goes through that could potentially see the end of one of the esports industry's leading brands.

Reports from early May stated that Immortals Gaming Club, the parent organization of Immortals, Made in Brazil (MIBR), the Los Angeles Valiant, and Gamers Club, was interested in purchasing OpTic Gaming's North America League Championship Series franchise spot.
However, a report from Esports Insider published on Tuesday, May 14th states that the entirety of Infinite Esports and Entertainment that includes OpTic itself, OpTic's LCS franchise spot, and the Houston Outlaws Overwatch League franchise is reportedly very close to being sold to the recently formed Club.
According to the report, Texas Esports, the majority stakeholder of Infinite Esports and Entertainment, has set a sale deadline of May 31st for the blockbuster deal.
If this monumental deal does indeed go through successfully, the esports industry could be losing one of its most iconic organizations. The reasoning for what many are fearing will be a complete elimination of the OpTic brand comes from a variety of factors. These factors include the fact that Immortals already own the Los Angeles Valiant Overwatch League team and thanks to a league rule that prohibits organizations from owning more than one franchise, the OpTic owned Houston Outlaws would likely be sold to a new owner.
There are then the possibilities that Immortals Gaming Club would likely rebrand the OpTic LCS franchise spot to the Immortals brand, and the low probability that it would keep OpTic's current Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team (CS:GO) when it already owns the MIBR CS:GO organization.
Finally, with Immortal's past history of not being involved in Call of Duty esports, it would be surprising to see the Immortals Gaming Club look to buy into the new franchised Call of Duty league next year. This would then result in OpTic not being involved in the esports scene that it began its immense rise in popularity in.
With no official confirmation of the deal between Immortals Gaming Club and Infinite Esports and Entertainment involving OpTic, the esports world will have to continue to wait to see if this major deal does indeed go through and change the world of professional gaming forever.
