Respawn Reveals Apex Legends Season 2 Content at E3 2019
By Wyatt Fossett ·
The river of information and reveals surrounding the latest season of content for Apex Legends that came through at the EA Play event was thirst-quenching.

EA was going things a bit different this year. Yes, they still had a large field of booths set-up near the Los Angeles Convention Center, and yes, they were still doing EA Play at E3 2019, but we got a lot more time with the big titles than we normally do.
Hosted by Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez, the Apex Legends segment of Saturday’s EA Play show gave us our very first look at season 2 of content for the first-person battle royale game that took the world by storm back at the beginning of the year.
Now, we have a full look at the next edition of the season pass, with all that comes with it.
New Event
There’s a new event coming to Apex Legends; Elite Queue and the Legendary Hunt. Place in the top five in any match and you can join the Apex Legends Elite Queue which pits you up against other top competitors. This is a bit different than the upcoming ranked mode revealed later.
Legendary Hunt challenges allow players to complete in-game activities in order to unlock a whole whack of exclusive goodies. Including new Legendary Wraith skins, weapon skins, and more. Respawn didn't go into details regarding how to opt-in to the Legendary Hunt, if it's purely a different queue in the game, or if you have to purchase the pass.
New Weapon
The L-Star is finally coming to Apex Legends after many months of speculation. The artwork and code for the L-Star gun was data-mined a long while ago and it joins the ranks after being a very large part of the multiplayer modes in Titanfall 2.
It can shatter doors and only comes in the supply drops. The L-Star only uses supplied ammunition, so what you get on the drop is all you have to work with.
Respawn also teased two new hop-ups coming to Apex Legends, but no information on what they are or what they will do was given.
New Legend
Wattson is coming to Apex Legends. The Static Defender will arrive alongside Season 2 and brings with her some very cool new tactical defending abilities that will change the way you and your squad dominate in King's Canyon.
Season 2 - Battle Charge
Season 2 arrives July 2nd and will come with the new Legend we spoke of earlier, a new weapon dropping on the battlefield, and even a new map mode. They teased some huge creatures coming to King’s Canyon, which will probably mean there’s a co-op hunt mode coming.
Many of the things coming in Season 2 weren’t revealed on-stage at EA Play today, but there was a pretty firm vocalization that the devs have been hearing what players are saying, and things will be tweaked for both ease and importance with the new battle pass.
Ranked mode is also coming to Apex Legends in Season 2, something competitive fans have been begging for. It’s coming with multi-tier ranks, and end-of-season rewards to prove your ranks.
Double XP Weekend
For the first time since launch, Apex Legends will be hosting a Double XP weekend that will help folks gain a ton of headway on their battle pass leveling, and Legend leveling. The first Double XP Weekend will be held on June 7th until June 9th (Right Now) in Apex Legends.

Respawn said that they are well aware how unhappy players were with the launch of Season 1 of their Battle Pass, and aim to do better by their fans come Season 2. They've done things like removing many of the counters and badges from the pass, and giving players more cosmetic unlocks and rewards that people have been asking for.
Season 2 of the Apex Legends Battle Pass will be available for purchase on all platforms on July 2nd, 2019.
