The Green Wall is Erected in the LCS Power Rankings Wk2
By Wyatt Fossett ·
We're four matches into the 2019 LCS Summer Split and we can finally shuffle around our Week 1 Power Rankings.

We’re through two weeks of the League of Legends Championship Series in North America (LCS) and we can finally look at the first 4 Games of the Summer Split and access some trends.
Sure, there are still many games to be played, but it’s hard to decipher who these squads are going to be in the Summer season until we’ve seen trends come to light through a few weeks. Are we going to see the end of the Team Liquid reign of terror? Will a new star rise to the top?
Here is your League of Legends LCS Power Rankings through Week 2 of the 2019 Summer Split.
--
1st (UP) - Normally we wouldn’t put a team like OpTic Gaming in the first overall spot at this stage. Though, through two weeks of intense League of Legends action, this OpTic Gaming squad remains the only undefeated team in the entire league. It’s time to give them a moment of praise. They deserve the top spot right now because they look like a real synchronized team. However, we don’t expect them to be at the number one spot next week, because the level of foe that OG has played thus far in the season hasn’t been an elite tier. Here’s your moment OpTic. We hope you enjoy it.
2nd (UP) - The surprisingly strong Golden Guardians kept up their impressive streak in Week 2 of the Summer Split. Sure, they lost a game on Saturday to Clutch Gaming, but that was a game they should have won. Ignoring the stolen game from Clutch, the Golden Guardians still remain such a formidable opponent in the summer so far. They backed up their loss on Saturday with a largely dominant performance against Cloud9 on Sunday.
3rd (UP) - It’s been a bit of a slow start for Cloud9 in the Summer Split, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting up to a 3W - 1L record. Their opponents have been bottom-half teams for the most part, aside from the one stomping from the Golden Guardians. If it weren’t for the shift in Team Liquid and TSM, Cloud9 probably would have stayed at the 4th spot on our rankings. We’re excited to see which Cloud9 team shows up when Sneaky and company are forced to again battle a team in their own weightclass.
4th (DOWN) - From the top of the charts to outside of a podium position is a pretty large fall in one weeks time, but Team Liquid has been one of the flakiest teams to play League of Legends in North America this split. On one hand, you get the team that easily dismantles the lowly 100 Thieves, and crushes the epic strength of TSM. Unfortunately, the other side of this team is the one that cannot finish a clutch game-ending move against Counter-Logic Gaming and drops a match against Echo Fox thanks to a single team fight loss. Which Team Liquid will show up on any given day is a toss-up, and that’s not a podium team.
5th (DOWN) - Much like Team Liquid, TSM went into Week 2 needing to prove something to themselves, and to their fans. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make a statement and instead left the weekend with an even 2W - 2L record. Though you could put a majority of the blame on their lack-luster bottom-lane, it’s an overall inability to secure wins or turn fights that have kept TSM from winning half of their games this far in the split.
6th (UP) - Some might have put Counter-Logic Gaming way higher on their power rankings, especially as a 2W-2L team that are coming off a win against the three-time LCS Champions in Team Liquid. For us, they have a lot more to prove before they would even be considered a playoff team in this current version of the LCS. The 2019 Summer Split isn’t going to disappoint later down the line, and CLG has the star power to make a huge stand.
7th (DOWN) - It’s been a rough start for the newly shuffled Echo Fox. While we came into the Summer Split greatly looking forward to a renewed sense of purpose, Echo Fox has only really surprised us in their ability to shut-down Team Liquid on the back of a single team fight. Today, that one fight remains their only win so far on the season, but there’s still a lot of fire in this team and you can see if in their efforts. They’ve been bumped down this week, but we expect them to migrate north again soon.
8th (EVEN) - The entire bottom of our pile here hasn’t budged a bit from Week 1 to Week 2, and there are a whole lot of storylines to back that lack of movement on our rankings. FlyQuest once again failed to live up to their ability in Week 2. For a team with such a talented roster, there’s something unbelievable missing. Something that will keep them from making any headway in the standings if they don’t figure it out.
9th (EVEN) - There was a moment in writing this where Clutch Gaming would be a contender to switch places with FlyQuest, but as the quality of play has been better and has more potential with FQ, it just made sense to keep it this way. Clutch Gaming is still a young League of Legends team and there is a ton of room to grow, but it seems unlikely that they will be making any surprise appearances near the top of the standings in the Summer Split.
10th (EVEN) - Where do you even start with a team like 100 Thieves? Every time they take to the LCS Arena stage you think that this might be the moment when momentum is flipped and the 100 Thieves we expected to show up bigger this split will arrive. That never happens, though, does it? You can see it in their faces when they lose. This team is broken and confused. Whether or not the coaching staff or players have what it takes to kick things into a more powerful gear has yet to be seen.
