Was the Last of Us 2 Release Date Month Leaked?

The Last of Us 2 is arguably one of the most anticipated video game titles in some time, as players are anxiously awaiting to get their hands on the sequel to what many consider to be one of the best video games of all time. While no official release date has yet been announced for the Last of Us 2, Ashley Johnson, the voice actress for the franchise's character of Ellie, may have leaked the release date month for the Last of us 2 during a recent interview. 

Last of Us 2 Release Date

According to a report by Shacknews, Johnson had been conducting an interview for the Show of Between the Sheets on the Critical Role YouTube channel when she was asked when the game would be releasing. The voice actress began to answer the question with what sounded to be a month starting with the letter of F before stopping her answer. Naturally, the video game community ramped up its speculation that Johnson was about to state that the release date month for the Last of Us 2 will be February of 2020. 

However, as with any piece of unconfirmed information, this seemingly leaked release date month for the second entry in the franchise should not be taken as fact until it is confirmed by an official source for the game. A February release date month for the Last of Us 2 does line up with a statement from Jason Schreier of Kotaku who had previously stated that the release date month for the Last of us 2 had possibly been bumped to February of 2020.

With there not having been a great deal of information regarding the Last of Us 2 having been announced following its official reveal, it is not surprising to see the gaming community supply a heavy dose of speculation regarding what looked to be a leaked release date month for the game provided by Ashley Johnson. However, only time will tell if players will indeed be able to jump into the world of what will likely be one of the biggest titles to be released in some time in February of 2020.
