'FaZe's Contract Will Be Deamed Illegal' Says Tfue's Lawyer

The saga of drama between ultra-popular Twitch streamer and Fortnite pro Turner "Tfue" Tenney and his once-beloved FaZe Clan continues today as the personality’s lawyer spoke in an interview regarding Tfue’s contract.

Less than a month ago, news broke that Tfue was suing FaZe Clan (the Esports organization he belonged to) over his grotesque suffocating “rookie” contract and funds owed over time from sponsorship deals and advertising.

Since then, there has been a bit of back and forth, especially on social media. FaZe Clan responded with multiple official statements, and Tfue asked for the support of his millions of fans to get FaZe to make his contract public.

Yesterday, theScore Esports released a video where they spoke with Tfue’s Lawyer, making this the first public statement by Brian Freedman.

One of the biggest griefs with the contract Tfue signed is centered around the California Talent Act which forbids organizations like FaZe Clan to act on their relationship with Tfue as if they were his talents agents. Not only do they not have a Talent Agency license, but part of the contract in question may also even be trying to avoid the law altogether.

“...worse, those contracts attempted to get Turner to waive the California Talent Agency act. No one could possibly sign something like that because it would be so illegal.” said Freedman.

Tfue’s lawyer also said some things that would insinuate that FaZe Clan specifically avoided the laws around talent in the state of California on purpose. “If they had applied for a Talent Agent Licence, and been approved, they would have then had to have their contract approved by the California Labor Commissioner, and a contract like the one they [FaZe] have could never be approved by the Labor Commissioner,” added Freeman.

Another part of the call with Freeman went on to say that one of the options ahead of Tfue and his legal team is to seek a lawsuit in a Los Angeles superior court on the basis of illegal restriction of a contractor to work with other companies.

So, what’s next for Team Tfue versus FaZe Clan? It’s unclear right now. There hasn’t been a whole lot of public conversation by FaZe Clan. Freeman -- Tfue’s Lawyer -- is almost assuring the public that either the contract gets thrown out, or things get hashed out in a California court in front of the Labor Commissioner.

We will continue to update Twin Galaxies as more from the Tfue vs Faze legal battle unfolds.
