CLG Beats TSM for the First Time in More Than 1000 Days

The new-look Counter-Logic Gaming have been on a complete tear this split and that didn't slow down for any winless curses.

CLG Beats TSM for the First Time in More Than 1000 Days

It’s been more than 1000 calendar days since the franchise of Counter-Logic Gaming has beaten Team SoloMid on the rift in North America or any other tournament. Today, on day 1,176 of winless matches against TSM, a fiery new-look Counter-Logic Gaming played a nearly perfect game from start to finish.

CLG MADE HISTORY TODAY!! Congratulations!!!!

From the top of their starting roster all the way to the bottom, Counter-Logic Gaming looked absolutely fly today. The biggest and brightest mega energy on the rift was the newest addition to the team, jungler Wiggily.

The 21-year-old American-born player has bounced back and forth between LCS and Academy a few times in the past two years but seems to have found a home surrounded by equally talented and beautifully reckless players like BioFrost, Stixxay, and PowerofEvil.

THE STREAK IS DEAD! I REPEAT THE STREAK IS DEAD! The team played so clean! ? CLG Keanu is to strong! We head into the week tied for 1st! GGWP @TSM! #CLGWIN #WeAreCLG pic.twitter.com/EFbwy2B4sB

The storied Counter-Logic Gaming franchise has been the butt of many jokes in recent years, as it has struggled to live up to the franchise’s early success in competitive League of Legends.

Even harder to swallow, it was the 2016 North American LCS Spring Finals in which this team last defeated Team SoloMid in competitive play. The CLG of 2016 would claim the Spring Championship with that victory over TSM and marks the last time the franchise won any hardware in League of Legends.

With the win today, CLG bumps TSM out of first place in the league, lifting themselves up to join Cloud9 and Team Liquid at the top of the standings.

Next weekend, during LCS Week 6, Counter-Logic Gaming won’t have an easy time. They will begin their weekend playing against three-peat LCS Champions and MSI Finalists in Team Liquid, as well as the surprisingly strong Golden Guardians.

We’re excited to see what this CLG line-up can do as we continue through the second-half of the LCS Summer Split.
