Rekkles-less Fnatic Lose to Rogue

Yesterday, Fnatic benched star ad-carry Rekkles. Today, they dropped their match against Rogue in decisive fashion.

Rekkles-less Fnatic Lose to Rogue

League of Legends isn’t always a game where one player can make the sole difference between complete domination and decisively unimpressive, but every now and then that theory is proven wrong. After shocking the European League of Legends fans yesterday by benching Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, Fnatic floundered their opportunity to show they are more than their long-time carry and future hall-of-famer.

It was an embarrassing display on the LEC stage for a Rekkles-less Fnatic. Perhaps, it’s more accurate to praise the consistency and relentlessness of Rogue--a team trying to climb their way out of obscurity and into the playoff race.

Last week, Rogue beat a surging and extremely talented Origen team and today they beat the often considered top team in the entire league. Yes, they didn’t have the kind of pressure and talent in the bottom lane--as they had benched Rekkles--but that doesn’t dissolve any of their nearly flawless mechanics and teamfights, all of which lead to a very clear and almost unwavering victory.

Most of the sincere dominance in their match-up against Fnatic would have to be owed to superior jungle play by Rogue’s young Kacper “Inspired” Sloma, who absolutely crushed on his now signature Olaf jungle.

Next up for Rogue is what many would consider a near guaranteed win (especially if they play like they have these past two games) against a Misfits squad that just benched their entire starting line-up.

For Fnatic, the team announced that Rekkles would only be benched for the single game, and would return to his starting roster spot on Saturday against SK Gaming, where this team will have to do a bit to restore some fan confidence.
