Apex Legends Leak Reveals New SMG Weapon

Another week, another Apex Legends leak, this time the latest find revolves around a new SMG found hidden within the game's files. Given that the battle royale title from Respawn has undergone many changes since its launch earlier this year, new weapons seems like a no-brainer, but what those new weapons are is still a mystery - which is where the latest leak comes into play.

The latest leak comes from 'That1MiningGuy', a leaker known for his datamined finds for Apex Legends. It seems that he's not letting his recent pesky Cease and Desist letter from Activision regarding Call of Duty deter him from uncovering update secrets, though this time Respawn is the target.

SMG wise we currently have (please correct me if I'm wrong) - the R99 and The Alternator only, right? Not sure if this is for the CAR or the VOLT (hoping VOLT personally, but know some of you love the CAR) but does look like some kick patterns for a new SMG are being tested. pic.twitter.com/q4hqEc9Ig2

According to the Twitter post above, it looks like there are a few detected kick patterns for a new SMG that could be crashing the game soon. Assuming Apex will be getting into the holiday spirit once more with a winter event, the new weapon could be coming then.

For those that might not have played Respawn's Titanfall 2 game, the Volt and CAR weapons are both from the studio's other shooter experience.

Whether this leak is indicative of a new weapon's inclusion or a modification of a pre-existing weapon is unclear, though a new event or the fourth season would be the perfect chance for Respawn to make an official announcement either way.
