PewDiePie is taking a different approach to 2020 by taking a break from YouTube and apparently Twitter as well.

Following YouTube Break Announcement, PewDiePie Deletes His Twitter

Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg, whether you love him or hate him, has been the reigning king of YouTube for quite some time. The streamer/online personality has made quite the name for himself both with his own form of entertainment and a host of mobile games with his name attached. That being said, it looks like he's planning a different strategy for 2020 and shortly after announcing he's taking a break from the video platform, he deleted his Twitter account as well.

Kjellberg took to YouTube to upload a video before he deleted the Twitter app, calling the popular media a "cesspool" and citing cancel culture and "virtue signaling" as his main reasons for leaving. The seven-minute video is just one of several critiques he's unleashed recently following a lengthy rant about YouTube's new harassment policy as well.

But the entertainer went beyond just making an angry video. He put his money where his mouth is and deleted his social account without warning. That being said, it didn't take long before he re-activated it so that no one could claim the PewDiePie name.

His now bleak Twitter account devoid of content simply reads "I don't use Twitter, this account is just to prevent fake accounts."

As for why he's leaving YouTube, the entertainer mentioned that the platform - and the drama surrounding it - has made him "tired." According to the Pew, "I think now is a great time as any to announce I have a special announcement to make. I am taking break from YouTube next year, because I made up my mind!

"I am tired. I'm feeling very tired. I don't know if you can tell," he added. Though the break won't be permanent, it was a shocking announcement to be made considering the lengths he's gone through to be at the top. No doubt he's already planning some "big comeback" in a bid for more subscribers, so we'll just have to wait and see what he does next.

The YouTube hiatus is expected to go live sometime at the beginning of the year.
