You're not supposed to play with matches, but playing with fire can get you a gaming world record

Scoreboard Spotlight: AntonioPeremin Burns the Rope & More!

The holidays haven't exactly started yet but you wouldn't know that from the pace of submissions we've been receiving at Twin Galaxies. In fact, it's a embarrassment of riches but we can only highlight five performances or else we'd be here until next week! So for this week's edition of the Scoreboard Spotlight, we're going to mix it up with mice and cats along with a visit to the doctor's office, followed by some world series baseball, a plunge into the 8-bit deep, and finally a turn taking fire to a giant so let's go!

Matthew Felix – ChuChu Rocket(Android) – Run Away Time

That was CLOSE! But Matthew Felix was the definition of “cool under pressure” on ChuChuRocket! for Android devices. Competing for the “Run away time” on the B2 Run, Matthew steered his gang of mice past the fearsome cats to make their rocket escape in 6 seconds flat.

Steve Schaefer – Dr. Mario (NES EMU) – Points Low Speed

Take that, cold virus! Steve Schaefer declared “the Doctor is in!” playing Dr. Mario for the Nintendo Entertainment System as he prescribed a new high score of 437,700 points, beating the previous record by 300k.

ILLSeaBass – Super World Stadium '92 (M.A.M.E.) – Biggest Blowout

In May 2020, ILLSeaBass  hit it out of the park with an out-of-this-world record on Namco's Super World Stadium '92. Storming the field as the Seibu Lions, ILLSeaBass destroyed the Hanshin Tigers who could only watch his homeruns as he finished the game 12-1 for a biggest blowout of 11.

Willster – Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition - The Lost Levels: Divemaster - 36.150

Like a true champ, Willster wasn't gloating after his latest TG record on Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. After a near flawless getting wet on The Lost Levels: Divemaster speedrun, he shared “[this] can be improved by a few more frames,” but until that happens, he's in the diver's seat with a fastest time of 36.150 seconds.

AntonioPeremin – You Have To Burn The Rope PICO-8 (Android) – Any Speed

AntonioPeremin was on fire as he vanquished the Grinning Colossus on You Have To Burn The Rope for the PICO-8 Fantasy Console. After a big sprint, he severed the rope holding up the giant chandelier and send it crashing on said colossus in a record-breaking 21.030 seconds.

This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.

Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
