Take a seat, Vin Diesel -- there's a new racing hero in town.

Scoreboard Spotlight: Salouber Fires Up Tokyo Drift & More!

Can we say it – it's COLD outside! Okay, maybe it's blazing hot where you are (here's looking at you, Sydney), but things are also heating up on the TG leaderboard (yeah, couldn't resist). It's been a week of top-notch competition and amazing feats of video game goodness, and we're going to pick five of them to share for this week's Scoreboard Spotlight! Let's kick things off by beating the heat, going on a VR training mission, blasting baddies with 5 minutes on the clock, before we bring it all home with more alien baddies and a fast  & furious race through the streets of L.A., so let's GO!!

Roger Blair – Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Nintendo Switch) – Beat the Heat

Roger Blair didn’t break a sweat after a new personal best on Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for the Nintendo Switch, sewing up the Super Mario 3 “Beat the Heat” challenge in 17.810 seconds.

Don Atreides – Metal Gear Solid VR Missions (Sony PlayStation) – Level 07 – Fastest Completion

Don Atreides knew it was good when the game exclaimed “Excellent Snake!” As a man on a mission with Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions for the Sony PlayStation, Don competed on Sneak Mode with no weapons, attacking Level 7 to earn a fastest completion in 8.06 seconds to take second place on the TG leaderboard.

alanpep – Soldier Blade (TurboGrafx 16 Mini) – 5 Minute Challenge Mode

Alanpep did a 16-bit flex and beat a 6 year-old record on Soldier Blade for the TurboGrafx 16 console. Tackling the “5 Minute Challenge” Mode, he destroyed enough enemy ships to finish with a giant score of 1,244,600 points to take first place on the TG leaderboard.

Mr2NuT123 – Espgaluda (Arcade) – Points

At the Arcade Club UK, Mr2NuT123 lit up the TG leaderboard as he danced with bullets and lasers on AMI’s 2003 manic arcade shooter Espgaluda. Combining sharp aim and nimble moves, Mr2NuT123 unlocked a dazzling world record with a final score of 39,708,660 points.

Salouber  – The Fast and The Furious Drift Tokyo Drift (Arcade) –  LA Ghetto Fastest Race

New TG member Salouber delivered a furious performance on The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, racing into the lead on the LA Ghetto track and never looking back as he crossed the finish line in a blistering 1:33.700, shaving 25 seconds from the previous record set in 2019. Congratulations!

This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.

Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
