Bubble Bobble: Lost Cave is a fan-made, pay-what-you-want sequel that adapts the 2012 arcade hack Lost Cave and 100 extra levels originally created by TAITO for console versions, bringing them to the Commodore 64 using the engine of Bubble Bobble Remastered. Developed by the Lost Cave C64 Team with reverse-engineered tools, the project reproduces level layouts, bubble physics and adds optional two-button controls while staying within the C64's memory limits. The release marks the first true spiritual sequel to Bubble Bobble on the C64 in 39 years.

The discovery provides the first public look at a game that vanished after an EGM preview in 1999.
