The Boys Showrunner Says Season 5 Vought Rising Nods Were Not the Result of 'Craven Commercialism'

Showrunner Eric Kripke told The Watch that the Vought Rising references in The Boys Season 5 were not craven commercialism but arose organically from the series' own mythology, with characters like Soldier Boy, Stormfront and Bombsight included to explore the V-One plot device rather than to promote the upcoming spinoff. He said the team's priority was giving the main-series characters a proper send-off, and the crossover with Vought Rising's showrunner was a collaborative decision, not a forced marketing ploy. The fifth and final season concludes on May 20, 2026, while Vought Rising is slated to debut in early 2027.
