The Co-Lead Designer of Baldur's Gate, PlayStation Will Remove Hundreds Of Purchased, and more!

The co-lead designer of Baldur's Gate 2, James Ohlen, turned down Hasbro's request to develop Baldur's Gate 4, saying it would be insanity to try to match the unprecedented scope and quality of Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3. Larian has already signaled it has no interest in a sequel, and Ohlen notes that recreating the game would require building a new engine and team, a task Larian is unlikely to permit. Consequently, Hasbro may either attempt a costly, likely inferior sequel, pursue a smaller, original project, or abandon a direct Baldur's Gate 4 altogether.

The company had already ceased selling or renting video content in 2021, leaving only previously bought titles vulnerable to this purge.

Stop Killing Games Bill Suffers Another Setback in the US
The Protect Our Games Act, a bill championed by the Stop Killing Games movement that would have required publishers to give 60-day notice before shutting down online servers and to provide either an offline version or a full refund, was rejected by the California State Senate (four yes, three no, the rest abstaining). The setback follows the initiative's earlier successes in raising awareness after Ubisoft's abrupt shutdown of *The Crew* and its lobbying efforts in the U.S. and Europe, and the group says it will continue proposing similar legislation nationwide.
