AmiGTA1 - A native AmigaOS 68k port of Grand Theft Auto is in the works
Developer Grzegorz Korycki is creating AmiGTA1, a ground-up, native 68020-plus AmigaOS 68k port of the 1997 Grand Theft Auto engine that runs on classic Amiga hardware with AGA or RTG graphics. The legal-clean alpha (v0.0.2) requires users to provide their own original PC game files, which the included converter processes on the Amiga, and already renders Liberty City in a gap-free 2.5 D view at about 60 fps, though missions, weapons, audio and police mechanics are still missing. The engine is written entirely in fixed-point 68020 code, reusing platform layers from the author's OpenTTD and OpenXcom ports and following the official DMA CityScape data spec.
