Reconnecting the Record Book: Twin Galaxies Archive History Is Now Live

For more than four decades, Twin Galaxies has documented video game achievement across generations of players, games, platforms, databases, and technology.

Over time, portions of that history became separated from the modern website, not lost, but no longer meaningfully connected to the record pages people browse today.

We have now completed a major preservation and reconciliation project designed to begin bringing that history back into the active Twin Galaxies experience.

Historical database snapshots from earlier eras of Twin Galaxies were carefully recovered, cataloged, cross-checked, and reconciled against the modern platform. The underlying work accounted for more than 109,000 historical score identities while preserving the distinction between confirmed historical evidence and anything that could not be established with confidence.

The result is a new historical milestone panel appearing on qualifying public record pages.

The panel identifies the dated historical snapshots in which that exact record entry was documented. This gives players, researchers, and gaming historians a direct and understandable connection between today's record database and surviving Twin Galaxies archives.

An archive milestone does not claim that the score was achieved, submitted, or verified on the snapshot date. It means something narrower and more defensible: the exact Twin Galaxies record entry was present in a retained database snapshot from that date.

That distinction matters. The objective is not to guess at history, but to preserve and present what the surviving evidence can genuinely support.

Its new historical panel shows that the record entry is represented in two retained Twin Galaxies database snapshots, one from October 2, 2012, and another from February 17, 2014.

Not every record page will display this panel. It appears only when the score is currently public and an exact, safely supported historical match exists. If that connection cannot be established confidently, nothing is shown.

Why This Matters

This work gives the Twin Galaxies community:

• A clearer view of how today's database connects to surviving TG history.


• Better preservation of the contributions made by past players and administrators.


• A trustworthy foundation for future historical features and research.

No scores, ranks, ownership records, or existing achievement details were rewritten as part of this project. Historical internal and restricted material also remains protected from public exposure.

This is an important first public step, not the end of the archival effort. Twin Galaxies history spans decades, and reconnecting it responsibly requires patience, evidence, and care.

Every record represents a player, a moment, and a part of competitive gaming history. By reconnecting the modern record book with its surviving historical foundations, Twin Galaxies becomes more complete, more transparent, and more valuable to the community it serves.
