Bungie Officially Responds to Claim That Marathon and Destiny 2 Are Merging

Bungie's creative director for Marathon, Pete Nardin, officially denied a circulating leak that claimed the Marathon universe would merge with Destiny 2, stating the rumor is false and implying related claims (such as a free-to-play shift, crossover skins, or new PvE modes) are also unsubstantiated. After Destiny 2 received its final content update in early June, Bungie has redirected development resources toward Marathon, which is now moving away from a strict seasonal update schedule and has delayed upcoming content to December. Despite the shift, Destiny 2 still maintains a player base roughly ten times larger than Marathon's, while community mods continue to keep both franchises active.
