The ModRetro Chromatic Now Has Local & Online Wireless Connectivity

Author: Sebastian Santabarbara

Shiny Relay is a custom firmware upgrade for the ModRetro Chromatic that repurposes the device's built-in ESP32 Wi-Fi chip to emulate the Game Boy link cable, allowing both local and online multiplayer without any physical cable. The update, installed via a browser-based tool, also lets users copy games and apps onto the Chromatic's Tetris cartridge over USB, and it works with a free Shiny Gen account. The firmware has been tested on real hardware and supports trading Pokémon, multiplayer gaming, and installing user-provided ROMs.

Cho Ren Sha - A X68000 Shoot 'em up arrives on the Amiga and it's impressive!

The 1995 Sharp X68000 shooter Cho Ren Sha 68k has been unofficially ported to the Amiga by developer apolkosnik, using AI-assisted code that runs the original game directly on 68020-class (or higher) CPUs while emulating the X68000's custom hardware. The port supports both AGA and RTG graphics, preserves the native 55.46 fps timing (dropping frames instead of slowing gameplay if needed), and plays the YM2151 FM soundtrack via disk-streamed recordings either as 8-bit stereo through Paula or as high-quality MP3s. Early impressions from reviewers and YouTubers are positive, with users on 68060 machines reporting smooth, sprite-heavy performance.
