RESULTS: Team Liquid Book Their Place in the Grand Finals after Defeating Echo Fox
By Zac Cameron ·
For Team Liquid, shutting down Echo Fox's aggression proved to be the key to victory as they book their place in the Grand Final match with a 3-1 victory today.
Both teams needed to win this match for different reasons, but ultimately it was Team Liquid who succeeded, blunting the assault of Echo Fox and responding with aggression of their own to claim the series in today. Here’s a brief breakdown of the match.
Echo Fox claimed first blood after invading the jungle of Team Liquid to catch them out. Both teams make proactive moves across the map, but are unable to find that key moment to make their attack. Echo Fox attempt to pressure Team Liquids jungle, however the collapse from Liquid lets them claim a kill for themselves to even out the score. The teams again clash in the bot lane, trading 1-1 in a skirmish that seems like it could lead to more before both teams withdraw.
Team Liquid use the aftermath of the previous fight to secure their first Dragon of the match, before another skirmish allows them to pick up another kill as they look to close the gold lead. When the teams clash in the mid lane once more, Echo Fox claim a kill but lose three of their own as Team Liquid take a gold lead for the first time this match.
Team Liquid rotate to the bot lane to pick up four more kills and claim the first turret of the match after diving the Echo Fox defenders. As the teams look for control of the Dragon area, Team Liquid catch out multiple members of Echo Fox to pick up more kills before securing the Dragon for themselves. Echo Fox look to contest the Rift Herald, but the collapse of Team Liquid costs them dearly. Team Liquid claim three more kills and the Rift Herald before securing the freshly spawned Baron for even more pushing power.
Team Liquid use the power of the Baron buff and the Rift Herald to destroy multiple turrets and inhibitors, and while Echo Fox attempt to defend their base, they are quickly dispatched from the map as Team Liquid end the game and book their place in the Grand Final.
Team Liquid seemed to have Echo Fox’s number this game, rampaging to a quick 23 minute victory after amassing a gold lead of over 15k. With a performance like this, it falls on the winner of tomorrow’s semi-final match between 100 Thieves and Clutch Gaming to see who’ll face the on fire Liquid roster.
