SK Telecom T1 Start Their Miracle Run by Taking down KSV eSports
By Zac Cameron ·
The former world champions claimed revenge over the current world champions, knocking them out of playoffs in the first round.

It hasn’t been the best split for either of these two teams, with both SKT and KSV having rough starts in the LCK. The first round of playoffs was essentially a replay of the 2017 World Championship Grand Final, as SKT T1 sought revenge over the current World Champions. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.
Match 1
The first game saw KSV draw first blood in this battle of champions, however SKT were very quick to respond with kills and eventual objectives of their own. Despite their best efforts, KSV proved unable to prevent SKT from building a steady lead, though several team fights in the mid game benefitted both teams. In the end, it was the superior map control of SKT that allowed them to claim victory, as they slowly strangled out the map and forced KSV into an unwinnable situation.
Match 2
The second match started out much slower than the first, with KSV managing to keep pace with SKT throughout the early game. It wasn’t until the game hit the 20 minute mark that SKT finally managed to turn on their objective based gameplay and start to outpace their opponents. The game seemed all but over when KSV’s jungler Kang "Ambition" Chan-yong managed to steal away the Baron from SKT, and the team shortly after secured the Elder Dragon for themselves, giving them the first real hope they had all game. With these two massive buffs under their belt, KSV turned the game around and ultimate claimed victory, despite having been down by over 13k gold at one point.
Match 3
The third and final match again featured a close start, with both teams repeatedly trading kills in the early game. KSV were the first to establish objective control, though it wouldn’t take long for SKT to find their feet and start out-rotating their opponents. Once they got rolling, SKT proved impossible to stop as they claimed nearly everything on the map before finally closing out game three and the series with the victory.
SK Telecom T1 will go on to face long-time rival’s kt Rolster later this week as their battle for the LCK Spring 2018 Championship continues.
