As part of a soft launch, TG has now activated the certificate system.

There will not be a larger announcement until we feel that everything is working as best as possible and any bugs or confusing elements can be further reduced or eliminated.

I put together a quick video that attempts to show the basics of the process. The video is not intended to be fully comprehensive and answer all possible questions - but hopefully it helps somewhat to explain the new system.

As of this moment, finally, TG Members should be able to acquire their certificates. In the meanwhile we will continue to refine things and monitor feedback.

Everyone's patience on this has been and continues to be appreciated.

We have received a report that sometimes the name on the certificate is not reflecting the name choice in the TG general settings.

If you encounter this problem, and the certificate is showing a name that you do not want to use, please DO NOT mint the certificate - as you only get ONE.

We will fix this bug in the next 24-36 hours. Thank you!

If the Certificate is showing the correct name, then please feel free to mint your cert!

I understand and agree with exactly your concerns. Please check out this link as it explains exactly what we are doing.

We just want to be able to let TG members that are record holders get their certificates under their control and ownership - if they want them. That's it

I'm just confused is this crypto stuff to help with funding the site?

Minting was easy! Doesn't cost anything to mint. You just need your crypto wallet and be logged into it.

I then bought the NFT for MATIC tokens, which ended up costing me about $32. Thankfully I made $400 last year on selling an NFT (my first purchase) so I have some playing around tokens. :)

This is awesome!

When I try mine, it shows my user name whereas I would prefer it to show my full name. Also it shows as the dark version and there does not seem to be an option to select between dark and light.

Oh I guess dark is #1 and light is anything not #1? Why would not a #1 say it is a world record, shouldn't the term world record be reserved for a #1 only?

Sorta looks weird that the whole line except the date and name is in all caps yeah? Shouldn't it be one or the other but not a mix?

What happens when this guy wants his name on a certificate?

Jesus Bruce Lee Christ.

The whole certificate thing is stupid IMO, in the first place, and I'm sorry to be the one to have to say it.

Better ways for TG to make money, merch, etc.

This is being worked on and should be addressed within the next 24-36 hours.

This just a rough preview so you can make sure the information is correct before proceeding. That's not the actual certificate format.

To mint a certificate, this person would need to be a registered user at TG (which they are not currently), and that process would fix his name display to look correct.

I think there may be some misunderstanding about the intention here. This is not about "making money" or profit. This is about providing a much-needed method for people who have TG records to obtain a secure certificate document that commemorates and memorializes that moment in their gaming history. Record holders can own this certificate and cement their achievement on the blockchain forever.

Nothing more. Not every record holder will be interested in this, and that's okay. However, historically, TG did issue paper certificates, and we have now brought that traditional aspect of TG back in a modern, blockchain-based way that is capable of preserving records more permanently into the future.

In this blockchain-based form, a TG Certificate has become more tamper-proof, resilient and secure. As an NFT with embedded data, whether or not the TG database continues to exist in future, THAT specific gaming record has been made immutable and public on the blockchain for all time. It's like etching your achievement in digital stone forever. In theory, a certificate on the blockchain is much harder to destroy than a database that holds your records.

So it can serve as a form of independent, decentralized record-keeping for your accomplishments, if you care about permanent posterity. Many people may not care, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just a new option now available - no pressure or expectation for anyone to get one. It is not a requirement. It's just something now available to TG members if they want lasting evidence of a record.

What if you just fixed stuff like this now because it looks janky and you want to have a nice looking website

Without being able to verify with the record holder, I'm currently uncertain what the correct name text should be to place there.

We know who wont be getting a certificate and that's Billy Mitchell. :) It's "Game Over" for Billy Mitchell thanks to that fraud, fake-a** so-called "documentary" :) Billy's scores are......"constantly disputed and impossible to verify therefore merit no inclusion.........." How ironic. Where have I heard that before?

Looking forward to minting my certificate soon as well as a few others when I can get Handbrake to work.

Jace, a lot of this can be resolved on your own. Start with googling the score and the title of the game:

Now we know that "Jörgen Holm" is "Jörgen Holm", thus "ö" represents "ö". Now you can do and find and replace in your database for those characters. Not only will it fix Jörgen Holm but also other players like Karl Broström (Karl Broström).

True, this isn't going to work or solve every instance, but it is a start.
