Fortnite May Add A Fan Favorite Call of Duty Game Mode

A statement from a Fortnite developer has pointed to Fortnite Battle Royale possibly adding a popular game mode from the Call of Duty franchise in the form of a limited time event.

Fortnite May Add A Fan Favorite Call of Duty Game Mode

Introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Gun Game is the extremely popular game mode that consists of every player in the match starting out with the same weapon and having the ability to upgrade to a more powerful one with each kill they collect. The player who is able to get a kill with every weapon wins the match. With the mode being a favorite of players, the developers of Call of Duty continued to add it into later entries in the franchise. However, there is a possibility that the fan favorite Gun Game mode could be making an appearance in the game that is dominating the video game industry currently, Fortnite Battle Royale.

The possibility of game mode being added into Fortnite sometime in the future came to light on the game's official subreddit. Community member Vapegodmasterman posted an idea of adding a limited time mode that would introduce the mechanics of a progressive weapon system into the popular battle royale title. Vapegodmasterman's post quickly shot up the subreddit and caught the eye of EpicDustyDevo, a developer for Epic Games, who provided a response that has given hope to all Gun Game enthusiasts who are now spending their time collecting victory royales.

"It's totally on the list to try a progressive weapon loadout LTM (Limited Time Mode) at some point. Would probably bring in the storm early to keep everyone together, flip on respawns so the game reliably ends when someone makes it through the weapon ladder," stated EpicDustyDevo, "What do you guys think, gold scar down to pistols, or weaker weapons up to strong? I think an argument could be made for either way being interesting..."

There are many variables that would need to be taken into account to create a successful version of the popular Call of Duty game mode into the likes of a battle royale game. However, Epic Games has shown in the past that they have the ability to completey revamp the base version of their game in order to provide brand new experiences for players, such as the Blitz and 50 versus 50 limited time modes.

What are your thoughts on how Fortnite should implement a Gun Game limited time mode? Should everyone start out with the best weapons in the game and work their way down to securing the victory royale with a pickaxe or should the final players in the game be battling it out with all gold weapons?
