RESULTS: London Spitfire Find a Tough Victory over the Florida Mayhem
By Zac Cameron ·
Despite coming away with the win, the London Spitfire had to work to put this one in the bank as the Florida Mayhem showed surprising strength.

While the London Spitfire are racking up more points, their battle with the Florida Mayhem proved to be anything but easy, battling hard to gain every advantage throughout their match. Here’s a brief breakdown of the match.
The first map, Volskaya Industries, was as close as you can get. London attacked first, and though Florida put up a good defence, it wasn’t enough to keep the Spitfire off the first objective. After securing the first point, London moved to attack the second and completely overwhelmed the Florida defence, rapidly securing the second point as well. Florida stepped up to their attack, and really applied pressure to the London squad. Though it wasn’t as fast or as pretty, the Mayhems attack was enough to force London off the point, before continuing on to the second. With both teams managing to secure both objectives, they would be forced to try again, only with less time than previously. Florida was up first, and though they were again able to secure the first point, they could not breach London’s defence a second time, leaving an opening for the London attack. Unfortunately for London, their attack proved much the same as Florida’s, with the first point falling fairly rapidly before being completely shut out of the second. With both teams having exhausted their overtime, the map ended in a draw.
The second map, Numbani, was again a fairly close contest. London again stepped up to attack first, diving deep to attack Florida and secure the first point. With the payload now rolling, Florida set up a series of fluid defence lines, hoping to slow down the London attack. Unfortunately, the Spitfire proved too strong in this instance, rolling over Florida and pushing the payload right through the course with time to spare. Florida’s attack was a little less efficient, however it was still enough to get the job done, pushing London away from the zone to secure and start moving the payload. As the cart got rolling, London did their best to stop Florida, however the best they managed was to slow them down. Both teams managed to move the payload through the map, leading to more overtime battles. With Florida up first, their attack on the first point seemed to go well, but London managed to recover and contest the area. After a tense battle that saw multiple casualties, London finally managed to get Florida away from the point long enough to end the round, leaving them with a capture percentage to aim for. The London attack went a lot smoother, as they quickly established advantage over the Florida squad and pushed them away from the point. There was little Florida could do to stop them, and London eventually closed out the round with time to spare, giving them a one map lead.
The third map, Nepal, started out strong for both teams, but quickly became very one-sided. Though London showed their strength in round one, they were unable to close out the deal, reaching 99% capture before Florida forced them away. Florida’s attacks went much better, managing to secure the first round to give them an early advantage. Unfortunately for Florida, this seemed to be all they had in the tank, as London proceeded to steamroll them across the next two rounds. Florida did not manage to get any capture percentage on round two or three, leaving London alone to secure the points and claim the map victory and the series victory.
The fourth and final map, Route 66, again saw a dominant London performance as they rapidly began to move the cart. With Florida throwing everything at them, London weathered the storm and pushed the payload through all three checkpoints with time to spare. When it came time for the Mayhem to attack, they quickly found themselves swamped by the London defence, and though they managed to reach the first checkpoint, they were unable to penetrate much further. As the clock ran out, Florida was forced to concede the victory to London 2-1.
